Programme evaluation (Year 2)
ImpactEd have published the Year 2 interim evaluation report for the programme.
The report explores how the LEP has grown in its second year, and draws on both quantitative and qualitative data collected throughout 2024/25 to understand some of the impact that the LEP has been having on pupils, teachers and schools.
LEP Teacher Conference
The Latin Excellence Programme held its first Teacher Conference at Pimlico Academy on 2nd December 2024. The theme was ‘All students knowledgeable and motivated’, and we were delighted to be joined by almost 50 Latin Excellence Programme teachers from across the country.
Phoenix Academy and Pimlico Academy visit Rome
Students from both Pimlico and Phoenix academies had the opportunity to meet together in Rome at the Baths of Diocletian and spend a wonderful sunny afternoon watching re-enactments of gladiator fights!
Fable Competition 2024
Competition was fierce in the 2024 Young Aesopi fable competition with over 180 entries from 21 schools.
North East Hub Trip to Hadrian’s Wall
50 Polamites and 30 pupils from Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham, ventured to Hadrian’s Wall and The Sill, National Landscape Centre, this term for a day of Ancient History, Geology and a fair amount of hill climbing!
Rome trip 2023: Chalk Hills Academy
During half-term, three teachers and twenty-one students from Chalk Hills Academy (in Luton) travelled to Italy for four days, to visit the sites and remains of ancient Rome.
Aquae Sulis trips
Trips to Bath are well underway with seven schools and over 180 students having visited the ancient Baths of Sulis Minerva so far this term and many more soon to go!
Barclay Academy’s Visit to Verulamium
On Tuesday 26th September, a large group of Year 9 Latin students from Barclay Academy visited the Verulamium Museum and Hypocaust in St Albans.
Fable competition 2023
This summer term concluded our first annual fable competition, the Young Aesopi Contest.
Eboracum (York) Study Trips
On 20th June and 11th July 2023, students from Polam Hall School in Darlington and Phoenix Academy in Shepherd’s Bush respectively went on a trip to York.
British Library Trip
On Thursday 9th February, nearly seventy Year 10 Latin students from two of our London schools attended the exhibit at the British Library, Alexander the Great: the Making of a Myth.
