ENRICHMENT

As part of the Latin Excellence Programme, the Centre organises and funds enrichment activities and trips for participating students.

Fable competition: The Young Aesopi fable competition runs during the summer term. Students in their first year learning Latin (usually year 7) compose an original fable in Latin to compete for prizes.

The 2023 contest had many excellent entries which were guest judged by Professor Mary Beard. The winners were awarded with Classics books and Latin Excellence Programme Roman style coins.

Study trips: Throughout the programme we will be arranging study trip to areas of interest both within the UK and internationally. This summer, some students have visited York to learn about Roman Britain.

In the autumn term, students are visiting Bath to see Roman Baths of Sulis Minerva and further their understanding of Roman daily life and culture. In the past, students have also visited the British museum and British library, to see an exhibition on Alexander the Great.
